Casting Round-up: 10/10/12

Normally, I avoid posting casting rumors until they've been confirmed, so this news update comes on the heels of a few stories that were announced days ago, but also which I wanted to wait to post until they were absolutely verified. They're all very, very exciting, and I'm finally looking forward to a few winter dramas. I thought the landscape was going to be completely dry, but here's to hoping these couple pan out!

Lie to Me: Afterthoughts

So, Lie to Me is over and the writer managed not to drop the ball in the end. The show itself was meh at best, which begs the question, did the writer ever really have the ball to begin with?

Obviously, I'm probably being too harsh a critic. Everything can't always be blamed on bad writing and we often use the writer to keep the flak away from our favorite actors. In the case of LTM, the writing was the overarching problem (and it was too late to be fixed by the time they changed writers in Episode 11), delivering a haphazard and clunky plot, but the actors can't all hide behind that.

Lie to Me

So, May ushered in the start of a new series from SBS called Lie to Me, which stars Yoon Eun-hye (Coffee Prince, Goong) and Kang Ji-hwan (Coffee House, Fireworks). Owing to the fact that this was YEH's first leading role since the disastrous Take Care of the Young Lady (a.k.a. My Fair Lady), it was highly anticipated. The beautiful star-studded cast wasn't a detriment either. I figured I should weigh in with my two cents before the show ends its run.

Coffee Prince

Because it's one of my favorites, I decided to make Coffee Prince, or 1st Shop of Coffee Prince, my inaugural post. There are so many things I love about this show and it really made me view the actors in a new light. The casting, acting, music, all of it couldn't be more perfect. Yet, as with every drama or movie or book, CP isn't perfect. It has its (albeit small) flaws. Let's get started.
